What if you could get employees to give their best, and not just their best, going beyond performance standards they thought they could?
Find the shared vision. Create alignment. Get an agreement on putting it all in.
Then don't set a limit to the performance. Create an open target. "We're not done, till we've done our absolute best." And then spice it up with a lot of encouragement. Especially reinforcing the potential and strong contribution your organization can make.
Don't teams slow down when they near the finish line? Think about your sales team. Or the task force working on productivity options.
This is contrary to SMART goals--Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Timely--but it's worth exploring.
